A large bushfire burning north of Adelaide has razed the property Karen Newton rented at Wasleys for a lot more than 5 years.

She watched on Wednesday afternoon as the home, containing every thing she owned, burnt down.

“I just came back property and grabbed what I could, put the dogs in the trailer, grabbed some blankets, just tipped out a drawer of clothing so I had a bag of clothing and that was it,” she said of her swift evacuation.

A day later, Ms Newton has been selecting by means of the remains of the home.

“I loved the location, totally loved it and it is all gone,” she stated.

“We stood over in the paddock and watched it burn, watched the roof fall in — and even this morning we could nevertheless hear it collapsing.”

The Wasleys lady managed to save her two dogs from the bushfire, but lost her cat.

“I got her into the cat crate, the door fell open, and she took off,” she said.

“By then I ran out and place some gear in the automobile and I couldn’t go back and get her.”

Ms Newton stated it was too quickly for most locals to think about rebuilding houses they had lost.

“People down the road have lost their spot, two houses that we know of and other people have lost all of their livestock,” she mentioned.
