Climate conditions have markedly improved in Tasmania’s south west as Police and SES teams continue their search for a missing bushwalker.
The 28-year-old man from New South Wales became separated from his close friends in the South Cape Range on Thursday morning.
Police said he was an experienced walker but they had been concerned he might be injured.
He does not have an emergency beacon.
The rescue helicopter had to pull out of the search on Friday since of robust winds but Anna Forest from the climate bureau said conditions had now improved.
“They need to continue to ease over the course of the day,” she stated.
“There’s still quite a bit of cloud about in that region but it need to begin to break and lift as the day goes on.
She mentioned showery conditions are anticipated to redevelop overnight potentially hampering efforts once again.
