Australia coach Darren Lehmann has praised the batting performances of wicketkeeper Peter Nevill, whose runs proved most beneficial in the inaugural day-evening Test at the Adelaide Oval.

Australia clinched the three-Test series against New Zealand two- after limping more than the line by three wickets in Adelaide in a nervy finish to round out the inaugural day-evening Test.

Nevill scored 66 in the 1st innings batting with Australia’s tail, and chipped in with a handy 10 in the course of the stressful period at the conclusion of Australia’s run chase, and Lehmann confirmed a promotion might be in order for the keeper.

Nevill has spent his fledgling Test career at the keeper’s position of quantity seven, but a move to number six could be on the cards.

“The captain has talked about that, possibly for the subsequent Test against the West Indies, depending on the make up of the side,” Lehmann told Grandstand at the conclusion of play.

A diplomatic Lehmann was also hesitant to criticise the Decision Assessment System, despite it delivering the primary point of contention in the Test.
