Mexico detains 3 males more than suspected murder of WA surfers

Mexican authorities say they have arrested 3 males and are searching for two a lot more who are accused of robbing and killing two Australian surfers.

The attorney-common of Sinaloa state mentioned the West Australians Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman were travelling from the port of Topolobampo to Guadalajara on the coastal freeway in the early hours of November 21.

The five men have been accused of stopping them at gunpoint by acting as police.

The attorney-common stated the Australian men reportedly realised they had been becoming robbed and attempted to fight them off, but had been instantly shot and killed.

The gang is accused of robbing them and driving the Australians’ van to another place exactly where the quantity plate was stolen and the car was burnt.

The bodies are now undergoing DNA analysis.

Family members of two Western Australian guys missing for more than a week in Mexico will travel to the country in coming days, as fears for the pair’s security deepen.

Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman were travelling in a van towards Guadalajara, but failed to arrive at their destination by November 21 as planned.

Yesterday, their households issued a statement saying they had been conscious the van had been located by Mexican authorities and that a “tragic event” had taken location.

But they stressed they had been nevertheless waiting for information to be confirmed and asked the media not to speculate.

Earlier, Mr Lucas’s Canada-based girlfriend, Josie Cox, attempted to harness social media in an attempt to find the guys, using the hashtag #finddeanandadam.

In a Facebook post, Ms Cox stated the final confirmed sighting was when they got off a ferry at Topolobampa late on Friday, November 20 at 10:00pm.

She mentioned Mr Lucas had been due to board a flight to London in a handful of days’ time.

The men’s disappearance had been reported to regional authorities who had officially classed them as missing persons, Ms Cox said.

She mentioned she planned to meet Mr Coleman’s girlfriend, Andrea Gomez, in Mexico.

Ms Gomez, who lives in Guadalajara, spoke to the ABC by way of Facebook messenger on Sunday.

She confirmed the two would meet to evaluate details face-to-face.

“Tomorrow I will meet with Josie (Cox), she will travel from Canada to Puerto Vallarta,” she wrote.
