Safety bolstered at RSPCA Adelaide shelter

An Adelaide animal shelter has installed a state-of-the-art safety technique to cease men and women breaking in at night to attempt to steal their confiscated animals back.

The RSPCA stated a donor paid thousands of dollars to get the surveillance program and the installation expense was waived.

RSPCA chief executive Tim Vasudeva told 891 ABC Adelaide there had been a quantity of attempts to break into the shelter at Lonsdale, one particular of them profitable.

“Somebody was successful in retrieving a dog which had been seized by council,” he stated.

“A dog might have been seized by a council, possibly if it’s attacked yet another dog or bitten somebody.”

He said surveillance kept all the animals secure and helped prevent damage or injuries if people deemed trying to scale the perimeter fencing.

“What we’re really searching at now is in depth systems with lots of cameras and immediate responses with alarms and the police,” he stated.

Mr Vasudeva praised the donor and the system installer.

“The RAA did not charge us for the installation, and the system itself was actually paid for by a type donor, who’s a lovely lady who’s been supporting us for a whilst,” he said.
