A former soldier has turned his efforts from fighting for his nation to helping homeless veterans get their lives back on track.

The Returned Services League (RSL) will nowadays open an emergency shelter in North Adelaide for returned servicemen and girls who are sleeping rough.

It will be based in an accommodation block at the Australian Lutheran College and managed by Ben Challinor, who spent 11 years in the Royal Australian Artillery.
